- Plan and keep in mind at least one thing you can look forward to everyday. It can be as simple as cuddling with your puppy or going to the movies or drinking some yummy coffee.
- Make a list of things that make you happy. Keep it handy.
- When you see yourself in the mirror, look into your eyes, smile, and think something positive, like "Today is a great day!" or "I'm so grateful to be here." Even if you don't believe it yet.
- Concentrate on (at least) one thing you like about yourself. It could be that you're absolutely hilarious, or that you're really good at math, or that you're a good friend. I really love the part of my leg where my calf connects to my ankle (totally random, I know).
- Set a reachable goal, make a plan to help you get there, and follow the plan. Appreciate every little victory and every bit of progress you make. My goal was my 10K race, and running it is what gave me the final push toward recovery.
- Review all the things you spend time on. Which are the things you are truly passionate about, that bring you true pleasure and a sense of accomplishment? Which are the things that you secretly hate, that you feel pressured into doing by society or the people around you? Transition toward only participating in activities you actually care about, and not doing anything that makes you miserable.
- Listen to music! Music that makes you wanna dance, music with positive lyrics, old favorites, anything uplifting
- Exercise. There is a noticeable difference in my self-loving between days when I do and don't run. I also love hiking, ice skating, Zumba, and hot yoga. A short workout is better than no workout: whatever you do is more than the person on the couch.
Cose da fare
